Jazz Lab costs $150 per month for a 16 week session. Payments are collected monthly. Once you sign up a PayPal request will be emailed to you on the first of each month. If you require another method of payment let us know and that can be arranged.

Next Gen Jazz Lab is totally free, but spots are limited!

Cost for Jazz Lab Workshops vary based on the workshop.

The hard time commitment for Jazz Lab is 2 hour rehearsal every other week and one performance per 16 week session.

Additional time practicing on your own is encouraged.

Next Gen Jazz Lab rehearses on Tuesdays from 6 - 8 pm.

All rehearsals take place at the Mutual Musicians Foundation.

1823 Highland Ave.

Kansas City, MO 64108

Members should have a solid grasp of the fundamentals of their instruments.

Previous experience with Jazz material is NOT required.

Ability to read sheet music is helpful but not required if you are proficient with playing by ear.

No auditions are required to join our ensembles. We maintain a very low-pressure environment focused on experimenting, learning, and growing as musicians together. We trust you to judge whether you have the skills necessary to keep up with a group.

There is no age limit for Jazz Lab or Jazz Lab Workshops.

Next Gen Jazz Lab is offered for students aged 14-18.

Each Jazz Lab session focus on 4-6 standard jazz charts from The Real Book.

Next Gen Jazz Lab focuses on a variety of styles including jazz, hip-hop, and soul.

Many of the charts Jazz Lab plays do not include vocal parts, so while vocalists are welcome its recommended you participate on an instrument as well.

If you are exclusively a vocalists our Vocal Workshop series events might be a better fit. Watch our social media and email list for more info on Workshops.

All sessions are led by experienced jazz musicians and educators. Visit our About page to learn about some of our instructors.

Brushing up on your scales would be recommended. If charts are provided ahead of time printing them off and reviewing them ahead of time would wise.

If you are going to be unable to make it to a rehearsal we ask that you let us know a few days ahead of time so that we can find a stand in.

If notice is provided we can pro-rate the session from the month.

Currently we only have small jazz combos.

If there is enough interest we hope to start a Big Band ensemble soon.
